Book Description

There are no isolated incidences. Everything that happens in our lives is connected and becomes the ingredients of who we are. Sometimes we embrace the truth when it’s convenient. Other times we run from it, hoping that it will change before it eventually catches up to us. When love is not enough, we must look deeper inside to mend the cracks that have weakened our foundation. Only then will we recognize our true selves.

For Eva, that would be a challenge. Her life often churned out of control as she fought for happiness. It will take incredible strength and honesty to become the person she was meant to be. Follow Eva as she struggles to recognize her own worth and tries to figure out what it takes to truly be a woman.

“This was a page turner. Could not put it down. Following Eva through her growth into womanhood was painful and emotional. It seemed in each relationship she found a little more of herself. Can’t believe this was the author’s first novel. Looking forward to more.” -buddysgirl1

“What a fantastic book with so much depth. I read it twice and enjoyed discovering the layers I had overlooked the first time. It takes you on a journey with the words painting the scenes in your mind effortlessly, and drawing you in to experience the pain, love, fear, and determination that is Eva’s life. I can not wait to see what W.C. Child writes next!”

Not Yet A Woman by W. C. Child is the story of a woman who has been fighting to find happiness all her life while finding herself and realizing that all she needed to be happy was to believe in herself. Eva’s life has been like a cracked wall, barely holding up while all it wants to do is fall down.  She never thought it would be this difficult to find a place for herself where she could be who she wanted to be. She just wanted happiness, a place where she could belong and experience what it meant to be happy. When her father passed away, she and her mother drifted apart and that became the point where she lost herself. From there on, it was Eva’s battle to hold on to a mother who was slowly drifting away and trying to find a reason, any reason that she was worthy of happiness too.

This is one of those novels that is worth your extra time and devotion. I loved to read about Eva because I could see traces of myself in her. She was fighting a battle with herself, trying to find an anchor that would keep her rooted and looking for anything that would make her feel she belonged. I could relate to her in so many ways, which made it easier for me to feel her confusion, her pain and her every single emotion. Her progress was monumental, but it took some time. She fought hard to find a place where she felt most comfortable, whether it was in the city or at Big Mama’s place. She was becoming a creature of habit, but she was just trying to deal with the cards she was handed. It gave me a lot of think about myself, how we try to fit ourselves into a box and try to belong where we have no business to be. Eva is a strong, determined person who fought hard to become the woman she was at the end of this novel. Needless to say, this novel will have a big place in my heart forever.
